Do You Need To Call Termite Control Services?

Construction & Contractors Blog

Termites are insects that can be found anywhere with a tree or bush. Termites are, by nature, destructive; they eat through wood and cause structural damage. They do not discriminate between healthy trees and dead ones, so it's important to keep them away from the wood in your home. But because termite damage is often unseen until it's too late, choosing the right protection method can be difficult. The best way to prevent termites is to have regular inspections for termite infestations on your property. What will inform you it is time to call the termite control services?

1. Blisters or Hollow Wood

Anywhere you see a crack, hole, or blister on your walls, it's definitely time to call termite control services. If the location doesn't seem out of place or obvious, it's probably time to start looking for termites. Termites are known to eat wood from inside walls, the reason blisters and hollows in the wood need serious investigation by pest control.

2. Frass

Frass is termite fecal matter, and while it may not sound like something you want in your home, it is a good sign that you have termites. Look in damp areas of your home, particularly in basements or low-lying areas. If you find frass, call the termite control services to come and inspect your home to ensure the problem doesn't worsen.

3. Mud Tubes

Mud tubes are the work of carpenter ants or subterranean termites. If your home is built on a hill, these areas will be the first to see any damage from termites or carpenter ants. There are several theories about why termites build mud tubes.

Some people believe it helps them breathe, but the most popular theory is that the mud acts as an anchor for the termites as they travel through tunnels searching for food. Whatever the reason, if you see signs of mud tubes near your home or in low-lying areas, call termite control services immediately.

4. Termite Swarmers

Termites are social insects, which means they move around in large groups. There are millions more in a nest nearby, if you see a termite. Sometimes, they will emerge from the ground in large numbers called swarms. The sight of a swarm near your home is a sure sign to call termite control services.

5. Damage Under Wallpaper

Sometimes you will feel the surface under the wallpaper soften under your touch. If you tear away the wallpaper, you will most likely see frass. The same applies to paint. You need to call termite control services ASAP if you see such sights.

Termites can be highly destructive to a structure and lead to collapse or high-cost damage. Call termite control services when you see any of these signs.

Contract Work, Construction Work, and Everything Between

The world around you consists of a lot of built structures. Obviously, these include a lot of buildings, such as schools, homes, and places of business. It also includes roads and sidewalks. But it also includes things you may not think about as often, such as playgrounds, telephone poles, and sewer systems. All of these built structures common and uncommon, are made by construction workers or contractors of some type. They're pretty incredible, their work is pretty incredible, and we are excited to write about both them and their work here on this blog. We hope you enjoy reading it, probably while inside some type of built structure.
