Now that spring is here, it's time to let the fresh air into your home. If your current window screens are in disrepair, this is the perfect time to plan for their replacement. However, don't settle on stationary window screens. Invest in retractable window screens instead. Retractable screens give you the coverage you need while allowing you to retract them when needed. Best of all, retractable screens can also be installed on your doors, including the sliding glass doors in your home. Once you have your retractable screens installed, you can ensure long-lasting coverage by providing proper care. Here are three steps you can take to care for, and maintain your new retractable screens.
Provide Proper Maintenance
When it comes to caring for your new retractable screens, one of the best things you can do is keep them clean. One way to ensure that is through proper maintenance. First, make sure that the tracks are clean and debris-free. You can do that by cleaning the tracks with mild soap at least once a month. Once you've cleaned the tracks, be sure to apply a fresh coat of water-based lubricant. Second, clean the screen with a damp cloth whenever dirt or grime is present. Finally, have your retractable screens inspected at least once every year or so.
Beware of Possible Hazards
Now that you're going to invest in retractable screens, you want to protect them from damage. The best way to do that is to be aware of possible hazards. Human error can be a big problem for retractable screens, especially since they're not as visible as standard screens. To avoid walking through the screens, and pushing them off the tracks, utilize a visual reminder. You can do that by placing a decal at eye level on the screens. High winds can also pose a threat to your retractable door screens. Because of that, screens should be retracted during wind storms.
Give the Screens a Break
If you've decided to have retractable screens installed in your home, you'll want to give them a break from time to time. Remaining in the open position non-stop can put pressure on your screens. The best way to avoid premature wear and tear is to retract your screens when they're not in use. When you're ready to open your doors and windows, activate the screens for maximum protection against the outside elements.
Protect your investment. Now that you have retractable screens, use the tips provided here to keep them clean, and in good repair.

But it also includes things you may not think about as often, such as playgrounds, telephone poles, and sewer systems. All of these built structures common and uncommon, are made by construction workers or contractors of some type. They're pretty incredible, their work is pretty incredible, and we are excited to write about both them and their work here on this blog. We hope you enjoy reading it, probably while inside some type of built structure.
